In Düsseldorf we have the third biggest Japanese community from all over Europe right after London and Paris. That’s a good reason to celebrate Japanese culture once a year on the so called Japantag (Japan Day).
Again we were very lucky with the weather on this year’s Japantag (Japan Day) in Düsseldorf, the most beautiful and exciting of Düsseldorf’s yearly events. Millions of people came from all over Germany to visit Northrhine-Westfalia’s riparian metropolis Düsseldorf for this barnstorming event, jamming the promenade from the Schlossturm up to the Apollo Theater at the Johannes-Rau-Platz.
As usual thousands of cosplayers took part with sensational cosumes related to the Japanese manga culture. While the cosplayer scene still met at the Rheintreppen (Rhine stairs) a few years ago it has become so big that they won’t all fit on that stairs anymore. Thus a kind of cosplayer festival developed itself taking place at the Apollo Theater meadow right before the KIT coffee bar. They came with tents, beer, wine & music and celebrated the Japantag (Japan Day) Düsseldorf 2019.
